Click on the images below to view samples of the web content management, writing/editing and email marketing work I've done; the notes offer background and context.
Online Banking Overview – burkeandherbertbank.com
The Online Banking Overview page was updated to a much more visually appealing and mobile-friendly page (The previous version was simply an image slider with minimal text).
Intranet Upgrade & Redesign – Burke & Herbert Bank
I was a key driver on the project to upgrade the Bank's employee Intranet, transforming it from a not-so-friendly portal into a much more attractive, user-friendly resource and communications site. This short video gives you some highlights of the changes.
Security Center – burkeandherbertbank.com
The Security Center is a section-within-a-section of the Bank’s website. On this overview page, I fleshed out a skeleton content outline, refined the internal content and then created the mini-navigation within the section to let users easily jump from one topic to another.
Happenings and Events - Employee Intranet
When the Bank's employee Intranet was redesigned – a project on which I was a key driver – a top objective was to feature news and activities of employees throughout the Bank. The result was the introduction of "Happenings and Events," "Anniversary" and similar pages that were among the most-viewed Intranet pages. I wrote the blurbs and took most of the pictures for the pages; a few excerpts are shown here.
'Go Paperless' – Email Campaign
This email was part of a campaign to entice account-holders to switch from mailed monthly statements to paperless eStatements. I re-coded the HTML of the standard no-frills email template to turn it into this much more colorful version that matched the campaign assets used in branches and on the website.
Business Marketing & Communications Emails
In addition to updates for eFannieMae.com and the internal employee website, a key weekly duty as part of the Business Marketing & Communications team was to manage and deliver a variety of emails to thousands of subscribers in the housing industry. I coded the HTML (customizing as necessary to create the various email designs); edited the content; delivered the emails; reported on opens, clicks and other key metrics, and managed the subscriber lists.
Clinton Presidential Library Page, AOL CityGuide
Learning that the official dedication of the Clinton Library was fast approaching, I made quick work of creating this Venue Page, so that it could be spotlighted as the lead item on the AOL CityGuide/Little Rock home page. I researched, organized and wrote all the content and obtained the image in time to publish the spotlight days before the Library’s dedication.
Jamestown's 400th Anniversary, AOL CityGuide
Jamestown was the first permanent English settelement in the New World, and the 400th anniversary of its founding prompted plans for a months-long celebration. I created this special CityGuide package of information and activities to spotlight anniversary events and in turn generate CityGuide page views; the page was spotlighted as the lead item on the Home pages of several CityGuide markets (e.g. Norfolk, Hampton Roads, Williamsburg).
Computers & Tech EMail
LifeMinders.com, an email marketing pioneer, delivered emails to more than 20 million subscribers, providing information targeted to their interests on a variety of topics, while delivering clicks to advertisers and content partners. I curated the content – targeting audiences by gender, age and other attributes – and wrote the blurbs for Home & Garden (which by itself had more than 10 million subscribers), Work & Money, Computers & Tech, and other emails. (The example linked here is of a Computers & Tech email.)
